Example: Goal weighting in Dialog

Final reviews usually contain a final assessment (score) component. This component is based on the grading assigned to the review areas in the final review. Most commonly, the final assessment (score) is assigned manually by both employee and manager.

Dialog offers the option to automatically calculate the final assessment (score) based on the grading assigned to the review areas. In Dialog we use the term "Weighting" for this method.

Examples of weighting

Below an example. Employee A has a position as account manager. Assigned to this specific position are two mandatory goals, and one competency.

The table shows the percentage that each goal or group of goals contributes to the final assessment (score) weighting.

Component Weighting %
80% billability (mandatory) 40%
5 new leads (mandatory) 20%
Other performance goals (combined) 10%
Development goals (combined) 10%
Competencies (combined) 20%

In this specific example: when the employee has three development goals, each of these three goals will contribute 1/3 towards the 10% of the final assessment (=3,33%). And for example, when 2 competencies are listed, they both contribute 1/2 of the 20% of the final assessment (=10%)

The weighting factors or percentages can be adjusted based on your organisational wishes.

Managing the weighting settings

To make use of this functionality, our Dialog support team will have to implement this complex change on organisational level. If you are interested, please reach out to our Dialog support team at support@dialog.nl of call +31 30 7600 290.
