How can I enable the calendar integration?

With the calendar integration, managers can easily:

  • Automatically suggest available meeting times.

  • Save scheduled appointments directly to their calendar and the employee’s calendar.

 

Calendar integration with Outlook

To use the calendar integration with Outlook, certain settings in Dialog must first be adjusted.
Note: once this setting is enabled, it applies to the entire organisation.

Enable Outlook settings in Dialog as an administrator

  1. Click on the 'Settings' option next to the organisation team

  2. Go to 'Integration settings'

  3. Tick the box: 'Users may link their Outlook calendar'

  4. Click 'Save'

 

Note: one-time approval required by an administrator
The first user who tries to set up the calendar link may see a message saying that admin approval is required. This is because the “Dialog - Calendar” Entra app needs one-time approval from a system administrator. Whether this is required depends on your Microsoft Entra settings.

Good to know: employee email address required
When a manager invites an employee or fetches availability suggestions, the employee’s email address is used to check their availability and add events to the calendar. If the email is not registered in Microsoft Entra, availability suggestions cannot be retrieved.

What about employees?
Employees can also link their calendars. Currently, however, this doesn’t have a direct function. Employee availability is automatically fetched when the manager connects their calendar, so employees don’t need to set this up themselves.

Integration with Google Calendar

If your organisation uses Google Calendar, you can easily connect it to Dialog.
Enabling the integration as an administrator: 

  1. Click ‘Settings’ next to your organisation team
  2. Go to ‘Integration settings’
  3. Tick the box ‘Allow users to connect their Google Calendar’
  4. Click ‘Save’

Good to know: once you’ve switched this on, everyone in your organisation (including managers and team members) can connect their own Google Calendar.
