How do I manage the goal setting period for my employees?

At the start of a new period, employees can set their personal goals in Dialog. As an administrator, you can set the period during which you want employees to do this. You can also set an announcement e-mail, and during this period Dialog encourages employees to create a personal plan. You set this period as follows:

1. Click on 'Management'

2. Click on 'Review cycles'

3. Click on the cycle for which you want to set the goal setting period (e.g. next year's)

4. Click on 'Set goals moments'

5. Click on the three dots at the right of 'Set goals' and click on 'Edit'

You can adjust the following settings:

6. Start date: from this date, employees will receive a task on their profile to create a personal plan.

7. End date: this is the latest that your organisation wants employees to have created their personal plan. This date is used in communication and employees are reminded to create a plan until this date.

So the end date is mainly for communication purposes. An employee can, of course, always create new goals after this date.

8. Send message on: on this date, employees will receive the announcement email from Dialog to create a personal plan.

Make sure this box is checked and decide on which date you want the employees to receive this email. Make sure you choose a good timing. For example, January 1st is not a convenient day to send this email.

9. Steps: Here you can indicate which topics should be included in the 'goal-setting assistance' wizard. You can choose from Job Responsibility, Team Goals, Competencies, and Development.

10. Development Questions: When the option Development is chosen in the previous option list, a number of questions unfold that can be asked to employees. There are 3 questions included in this list by default. You can also choose to add your own topics and questions.

11. Always Open the 'New Goal' Screen: This option provides employees the opportunity to create their own goal when they click on a competency or responsibility. A menu will then unfold where the employee can create their plan.

12. Intake is Mandatory: This checkbox can be selected when employees are required to complete the intake to make a personal plan. Employees can still go through the intake without creating goals.
