Where can I write notes about my employees?

You can write notes and comments about your employees. There are different places where you can do this, depending on the purpose of the note. In this article, we explain what types of notes you can write and for which purposes.

  • Comments on goals
  • Talking points
  • Conversation notes
  • Private notes

Comments on goals

You can comment on the goals of employees. You do this by clicking on a goal and then writing a note. For example, you can provide feedback on the content or give compliments on the progress of the goal.

1:1's

Click on the ‘1:1s’ tab for an employee to access both the ‘Talking points’ and ‘Conversation notes’. In the vertical bar on the right are the ‘Private notes’.

Talking points

You can add talking points that you want to discuss with the employee. The employee can also add talking points themselves. This way, you can together determine the agenda for your next meeting.

To add a discussion point, click on ‘+ Add talking point’. You can then choose whether or not to share this point with the employee.

Once you've created a discussion point, you can:

  • Click the ‘plus’ icon to add it as a 'Conversation note', so you can expand on it during your conversation.
  • Click the ‘pencil’ icon to edit the talking point.
  • Click the ‘bin’ icon to delete the talking point.

Have you discussed the topic? Then tick the checkbox in front of the point to mark it as completed.

Conversation notes

You can also add conversation notes. Here, you can write a short summary of your conversation with the employee. Employees can also add their own notes, which will appear on the same page.

Once added, the note will appear below the note field. You can:

  • Edit the note by clicking the three dots and selecting ‘Edit note’
  • Delete the note by clicking the three dots and selecting ‘Delete note’

Private notes

You can also write private notes. These can be used to keep track of information about the employee that you want to keep to yourself. Private notes are not visible to anyone else.

You can:

  • Edit a private note by clicking on it
  • Delete a private note by clicking the ‘bin’ icon under the note
