How can I use Dialog for conversations with my employees?

You can use Dialog to support conversations with your employees, as it provides both structure and input for the discussion.

Using Goals as Input

When having a conversation with your employee (such as a performance review), it is valuable to discuss the goals the employee has set for themselves. The employee can reflect on their goals using colored smileys and written notes. This can be valuable input when you engage in a conversation with the employee. It allows you to discuss what is going well, areas for improvement, and the employee's plans for the upcoming period.

If you have a meeting scheduled with an employee, ask them to update and reflect on their goals beforehand. This provides valuable input for the conversation.

1:1's

Click on the '1:1s' tab for an employee. On this page, you will see 'Discussion Points', 'Meeting Notes', and 'Private Notes' in the vertical bar on the right.

Talking Points

You can also use Dialog to prepare for your meetings. Under the heading 'Discussion Points', you can make a note of topics you would like to discuss with the employee.

For each talking point, you can choose whether to share it with the employee or keep it private. You will also be able to see if the employee has shared any talking points with you.

Have you held the meeting and discussed the points? Then you can cross off a discussion point by selecting the checkbox to the left of it.

Conversation Notes

On the same page, under the heading 'Conversation Notes', you will find previously made notes. You can also use this section to write general notes and meeting summaries. Employees can do this too.

Have you had a meeting with the employee? Here, you can briefly note what was discussed.

Note: that when you add text in the text field, it is automatically saved. The note is only fully saved once the time under the text field updates. The note is not posted until you click the ‘Add’ button.

You can also edit your own notes. Hover your mouse over a note, three dots will appear – click on these and then select 'Edit Note'.

Private Notes

Of course, you may also have notes you prefer to keep to yourself. That’s why we offer the option to write private notes. You can do this via the vertical bar on the right-hand side under the 'Private Notes' section.

Private notes are never visible to anyone else. An additional advantage is that you will have these notes on hand when writing an evaluation for an employee.
