The question set in Dialog is divided into themes. For each theme, you can add questions relating to that theme. You can use the questions from your question set when sending out a survey.
Go to your question set by navigating to the Management page and then to Themes & Questions. Here you will see all the themes and questions in your platform. This overview offers a view by question and a view by theme. There is also a search function, allowing you to easily search for specific questions or themes at any time.
This article explains how to manage these themes and questions.
Managing your themes
Questions always belong to a theme. You can add questions to an existing theme, or you can create a new theme. Within our standard question set, we use main and sub-themes. All sub-themes together form the main theme.
You can manage existing topics via the three dots to the right of a topic, and you can add a new topic via ‘+ New topic’.
Each theme has a Name and a Short name. The Short name is used in places on the platform where the full name won’t fit.
For each theme, you’ll see the questions associated with it. Later in this article, you’ll find more information about managing questions and what to be aware of.
If you want to add a sub-theme, you can specify the parent theme at the bottom of the theme.
Once you have made your changes, click ‘Save’.
Managing your questions
For each theme, you can specify which questions belong to it. You will already have built up a set of questions during the implementation. You can manage this yourself by adding or removing questions from a theme.
Please note: Do not edit an existing question. This will affect historical results from previous surveys in which you have already asked this question. If you wish to change an existing question, add a new question and delete the old one.
To add a new question, click on ‘+ Add a question’. You will then have the option to select a question that is already associated with another theme, or to create a new question. You can do this by typing in your question and then pressing Enter on your keyboard.
- Question: You can still edit your question if necessary. You can also add a translation using the flag icon.
-
Rating: Select the rating scale on which the question will be scored. You can choose from:
- Default 5 point scale Engagement: this is our standard scale ‘Strongly disagree – Disagree – Neutral – Agree – Strongly agree’
- Negative 5 point scale Engagement: this is the same scale as above, but can be used if your question has a negative connotation (for example: ‘I suffer from a high workload). With this rating, the scale looks the same, but the underlying score is reversed. In this case, ‘Strongly agree’ has a low score.
- 10-point scale: in this case, the employee gives a score between 0 and 100. This question is used as standard with the eNPS.
- Open-ended question: There is no scale and the question does not yield a score. The employee simply fills in a free-text field.
- Would you like to use a scale that isn’t listed here? We can help you with that. In that case, please send an email to support@dialog.nl.
- Type: You can choose between the Engagement type and the eNPS type. By default, you should use the Engagement type here. The eNPS type is only used for the eNPS question.
Please note: to ensure the validity of the survey, you should use the same type of scale for every question. Therefore, do not simply combine a 5-point scale and a 10-point scale in the same survey, as the scores cannot then be easily combined.
